An ongoing exploration of how the streets surrounding Balboa Park can be reimagined as civic corridors that improve walkability, access, and neighborhood connection. Current work focuses on the re-envisioning of Spruce Street, with future phases expanding to additional streets within the network. I contribute through site walks, precedent studies, and collaborative design development, helping translate ideas into streetscape proposals and visualizations of the evolving public realm.

SITE ANALYSIS

This site analysis diagram maps the existing conditions of the study area, highlighting key opportunities and constraints that shape the public realm. It begins to explore how these factors can inform potential street interventions and added elements that enhance connectivity, comfort, and civic use.

SITE PLAN

This site plan proposes a linear pedestrian walkway that reorganizes the street as a more walkable, human-scaled corridor. Enhanced crosswalks and traffic-calming roundabouts improve safety and slow vehicle movement, while one lane of existing parking is reallocated to create space for expanded pedestrian infrastructure and public realm improvements.
